Sandpiper Cares!

Consistent with our character trait of the month, the Sandpiper community definitely showed its caring side this month!
  • Our students collected more than 150 coats and jackets for our annual drive. The items were donated to help those in need to stay warm through the winter months.
  • More than 80 students, parents, and staff donated at least an hour to our first Community Service Day on Dec. 10. Participants contributed to the community by picking up trash in the park and streets, singing to and visiting with residents at several senior living centers, and helping with beautification projects on campus. It was a great day for giving back to the community and to reinforce in our students the importance of service to others.
  • In the past few years, we have had several students cut their hair to support such charitable causes as Locks of Love, which turns donated hair into hair prosthetics for children who have lost their hair due to various medical conditions. Kiara G. and her mother, as well as our records clerk, Mrs. McGill, continued this act of caring this month.
We had a great first semester, and our students and staff are certainly looking forward to this break. I hope each of you are able to spend peaceful time connecting with family and friends, and I look forward to a rewarding new year for everyone.
