Kindergarten Round Up
We are having our Kindergarten Round-Up on Monday, March 9 at 6:30 pm. This is an opportunity for in-coming kindergarten parents to discover what a great school Sandpiper is. Our kindergarten teachers will talk about their program, and our PTO will give campus tours. If you know someone who has an in-coming kindergarten student, please encourage him/her to attend this event.
Field Day
Congratulations to our Sandpiper athletes, who finished first at Wednesday's District Field Day at North Canyon High School. Sandpiper edged out two other schools by three points for the team victory. It was a beautiful day, and the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students and parents had a great time.
Playground
Thanks to our Student Council, we now have two new basketball rims and tether balls for our intermediate playground. The tether balls have been rather exciting, as most of our students have never played the game. Coach Rosenberg is taking time to show the students how to play, and so far they have really enjoyed it.
Human Growth & Development
It's that time of year when our 6th grade students have Human Growth and Development classes with Nurse King and Mr. McKinley. This is a fact-based district program that was created with input from educators, parents, doctors, clergy, and other community stakeholders. Parents of 6th grade students are given the opportunity to see the program beforehand, and they must give permission for their students to attend. It is a very informative class, and it provides a great starting point for parents to discuss significant issues with their students.
